Orion Solar was formed in 2004 to supply a range of solar powered LED lighting solutions for commercial applications throughout Australia. To launch the company Orion teamed up with Carmanah Technologies of Canada, pioneers in the manufacture of lighting solutions for the tough, mission-critical applications of the aviation and marine industries.
Over the years, the advances in solar panels, LED luminaires and our expanded network of suppliers worldwide, has opened the market for outdoor solar lighting of all kinds, including pathway, parking lot and street lighting.

Orion is based on Queensland’s Gold Coast from where we support customers throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and other regional countries. We are corporate members of The illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Orion’s focus is very much on commercial grade, off-grid lighting systems. Wherever hard wired power is unavailable or difficult to access, we can supply a competitive solution. The markets where we have found success include the mining industry for remote work and accommodation areas, local government for public area lighting, main roads for country highways and rest areas and recreational marine areas such as wharves and jetties.
